First Visit
What to Bring
- Insurance card (If you have insurance)
- Drivers License
- List of medications
- List of past surgeries, past major illnesses or other diagnosed health conditions
Paper Work
First you will fill out some paperwork that will provide us with some general information as well as information about your health condition. If you would like to fill out the paperwork before your visit, please download and print the forms off of our website. Fill out the forms with black or blue ink and brink with you to your appointment.
Consultation and History
Next you will sit down and talk to one of the doctors about your health related problems and concerns. Your first visit is designed for the doctor to learn more about you, your condition, and your expectations to determine whether chiropractic care can help you. If your condition is not a chiropractic case then you will be referred to a doctor that can help you the most.
Examination
After your consultation the doctor will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your ability to turn and bend as well as other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations.
Further Testing
Your specific condition may require further testing such as x-ray to either rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you.
Report of Findings
Next your doctor will go over the findings from the exam. The report of findings will answer the following questions:
- What is wrong?
- How can it be treated?
- How long will it take?
Treatment
After all of your questions have been answered and if you decide that you would like to receive chiropractic care, then treatments for your specific condition will be given following the report of findings. Most of the time treatment will start on the first visit.
There are typically three phases of care that a patient can chose to follow.
Phase 1: RELIEF
When you come in with pain, the first step is to get you out of pain. In this phase your visits will be more frequent. It is always your choice whether to continue treatment after this point, but it is important to get your body back to functioning optimally, before stopping care.
Phase 2: CORRECTIVE
During this phase you may or may not be experiencing symptoms. With many conditions pain is the last thing to show up and the first thing to go away, even if there are still underlying problems. During this phase the doctors will focus on making long term corrections and your visits will be less frequent.
Phase 3: WELLNESS
Many patients chose to continue with wellness care to maintain the improvements they have gained and prevent future problems. Just like regular dental checkups, regular chiropractic checkups can catch little problems before they become major issues. Oak Ridge Chiropractic offers several affordable wellness plans to help you prevent future problems.
